The Great Park
As we all know the closure of the El Toro Marine base was a great loss for our equestrian community. The Equestrian Coalition of Orange County has been working hard to get another equestrian facility open at the Great Park to help not only to fill the needs of those that were displaced but also fill the needs of equestrians through out the county.
We have proposed to the Great Park and Lennar the development of a large world class facility that could not only meet the demands of competitive horse world but also the needs of the pleasure horse community of Orange County. This would include a large multi-use stadium, multiple show rings for all disciplines, grass fields, boarding and trails.
There are currently three groups who are interested in developing a plan for bid. One of these groups has asked the ECOC for a wish list. Along with working with this group we will be developing a presentation for the Great Park Co. and Lennar which outlines the need for such a facility and supply data which justifies the land use.
